Sure, 45 percent, or his current 42 percent, is higher than Trump’s April low of 38 percent, or his all-time Gallup low, last seen in December, of 35 percent. But his numbers have held within a very narrow range since his inauguration. 2. We all know what side we're on

Whether we are liberal or conservative we have completely divided and have stopped listening to each other. No one on either side can change that. There isn't any middle ground anymore. The older generation of Democrats wasted the last 25 years trying to bridge that gap and activate moderate voters. That's why Hillary ran with Tim Kaine instead of Elizabeth Warren and why most of Obama's policies were Republican policies. It was a lost cause.

It's also why the new generation of Democrats are so exciting. Finally, we have candidates who are courting their base. They know there is no middle ground. Why bother with it? We are going to have to turn things around with half a country. It sucks, but that's the way it is. Trump's numbers are irrelevant. All that really matters is voter activation and producing results with liberal policy in blue states that we can campaign on nationally.

We should keep in mind the same is true for the Republicans. Trump isn't going to win anyone over, either. They may control all three branches, but it's a slim margin. The damage they cause is only done with half the country, too.

Most presidents are still relatively unknown to the population at large when they take office. The media circle jerk over Trump for 2 years prior meant that everyone in the country already solidified their opinions before he even moved into the white house. It is a lot easier to get someone to form a new opinion than change one.

However, Trump has solidified his support among Republicans, going from around 80% approval a little over a year ago to around 90% approval among Republicans now. So, while Democrats have held steady with their dislike of Trump, he's gone back up a bit because he's now more popular among Republicans.
