General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDisneyland just had its hottest day ever. 113 degrees.
Because of the oppressive heat, park officials closed all outdoor rides, including Big Thunder and Mountain Railroad. Several food vendors also shut down because of the heat. Those who went to the park on that day said that lines for rides were short, as the park was practically empty.
Disney first aid staff were on call to help guests experiencing dehydration. There was one medic run right after the other, one park cast member said.
Would be ironic if venues like Disneyland loses huge bucks due to climate change.

(7,725 posts)Today was supposed to be 86 degrees. It was 97. This has been happening routinely this summer from Weather Underground. They raise the next three day window to upper 80s....then it goes over 100. (heat index). We have entered a time of runaway temperatures that the National Weather Service is conspiring to help cover up. If you live in a house wo AC...There's no hiding it.

(51,591 posts)why since they are always off by 10 degrees. They hardly factor in the real feel with the humidity either. The other night it didn't get below 80 degrees and was muggy. This has been happening a lot in S Calif for 5 or so years. It never was this humid...unbearable. I used to teach at a year round school and my room had no A/C and was 95 inside during the months of July and Sept. No one can teach or learn in that environment.
Climate change will create tons of small catastrophes all the time....like that bridge in Chicago.

(7,725 posts)high 80s. Once the president lies...then everybody can bc hey, they have consented.
Thanks for the comment.
I don't remember WU being this far off. It feels like runaway temps that they can't admit, or their would be civil unrest. The "Heat Dome" bullshit story that was supposed to last 3 days...has set in for the duration.

(60,010 posts)What on earth can be causing that??
And, FWIW, we have just finished a couple weeks of high 90's and high humidity.
It's humid and hot here in the summer, but usually not THAT humid in our area.
BigmanPigman
(51,591 posts)have never experienced so much humidity in the Summer as they have in the last 10 years. No more dry heat for us. Climate Change is going to make all sorts of strange occurrences and we will be guinea pigs in this climate experiment.

(7,725 posts)I think this ugliness is happening in states where the temperatures go to 100....maybe twice a summer. I remember that bc...it was a huge event growing up. Now it's all heat, all the time.
I'll check accuweather. TY.
dixiegrrrrl
(60,010 posts)So come to find out, Accuweather uses Weather Underground as a weather source.
It does get points for having a very easy to see radar forecast of the storms moving around, tho.

(15,805 posts)They must feel even worse with a considerable higher humidity than our bone dry 9% out here.
Roland99
(53,342 posts)And it gets hotter in the parks.
Why?
Because the trees and buildings and privacy structures block much of the breeze, if any, and the expanse of pavement and concrete radiates heat back up.
We were in the parks last week. Started at 7am for Eary Magic Hour and didnt leave until DL closed at midnight. No hotel breaks, no pool breaks!
Also, that same day, their entire web and app systems went down. No one could get a FastPass at a kiosk or use the app for a MaxPass.
We ended up using the Guest Relations stands throughout the lands and ended up getting more FPs than we normally would have
Stayed hydrated and utilized the a/c rides.
And, funniest part, Small World seat melted into my shorts!! The black material on top of the seat just peeled and embedded into my shorts! Got a voucher for a new pair at least.
I have to say, the CMs and all of Guest Relations were beyond wonderful and patient. They did an amazing job that day!
