RALEIGH, N.C. In the latest Civitas Poll, Democrat congressional candidate Dan McCready leads Republican Mark Harris by 7 points.
The poll, conducted July 5-8, 2018, surveyed 543 likely voters in North Carolinas 9thcongressional district, a seat currently held by Republicans. The exact text of the question reads as follows:
If the election for U.S. House of Representatives were today, who would you vote for? Republican Mark Harris? Democrat Dan McCready? Or Libertarian Jeff Scott?
Mark Harris (R) 36%
Dan McReady (D) 43%
Jeff Scott (L) 3%
This race has all the indications of being a nail-biter into November, but Republicans should be concerned with a negative 7-point spread in a district that has an R+7 rating, said Civitas President Donald Bryson.

(10,054 posts)I think we can really go blue in the fall. I was just reading an article about the Thai cave rescue and the Navy Seal interviewed said "a tiny bit of hope became reality". I am going to take those words and adopt it as my mantra going into November.

(25,111 posts)With the voter suppression and gerrymandering with the approval from the highest court in the US, it is imperative that voters come out in droves because as we know, the GOPers will cheat and steal with the help of outside forces.
Another thing that GOPers should know, even some of their registered GOPs and independents are going to vote against them.
If this pattern continues, the GOP will freak. Will they suppress their own? The answer is yes,

(6,324 posts)I have doubts we can turn it, but this does look promising.
In the West its solidly suburban Charlotte and red. All of red Union county and the red precincts of southeast Mecklenburg County to stack the poor black people into NC 12.
Im the east it has most of solid Blue Cumberland and mostly blue Scotland, but red Robeson and the redder parts of Bladen.
The middle is an even mix.
I think it will come down to how well Cumberland turns out and how poorly the Charlotte area does.
