School Forces Girls To Take Pregnancy Tests, Expelled if Positive/Refuse
by LieparDestin
Who says time travel is impossible? Louisiana is doing a great job of taking us to the previous century:
A public school has sparked outrage by forcing its female students to take pregnancy tests - and then kicking out those that come back positive or refuse to do so.
Delhi Charter School, in Delhi, Louisiana, has come under fire for its policy that campaigners say is 'clearly illegal under federal laws'.
Under the new rules, a teacher can 'require' a student to have a test if they suspect she could be pregnant.
That's right. Mandated medical procedures or you lose your hopes of an education/future. Where is the great freedom fighter Bobby Jindal when you need him? And how exactly does one 'suspect' someone is pregnant. Are all teachers taking medical classes now? Does a peanut butter and pickle sandwich in their lunchbox trigger some alarm? Do 'heavier' girls get suspected more often? Tons of questions arise.
If the test comes back positive, the policy states: 'The student will not be permitted to attend classes on the campus of Delhi Charter School.
'She will be required to pursue a course of home study.
Banishment to home, forced isolation from friends. Shaming. There can be no other word for it.
But wait... Im no expert (Im not a teacher), but I do believe it takes two people to bring about a pregnancy. So obviously if a male student gets a female student pregnant, he to engaged in sexual activity and is cast from the community:
This is because, they say, it treats female students differently from male students and relies on archaic stereotypes linked to sex and pregnancy.
Esman added: 'Male students who might also have engaged in sexual activity or be expecting children are not subjected to similar treatment.'
As one ACLU represenative says:
'Pregnancy is not a disease, and schools may not treat it that way
But then again, what can we expect from a state that shuns sexual education and birth control?

(28,941 posts)So, if one of these young studs, re male students, impregnates a legal minor, he isn't charged? If authorities, re school officials, are aware of a crime and do nothing, isn't that aiding and abetting?

(20,234 posts)We are chartered by the county's public school district, with no corporate ownership, no corporate management. Everyone's a public school employee, and public school rules apply to us just like any other public school in the country. And we are part of the AFT (union).

(39,909 posts)"Charter" Schools is just another way to privatize our "Commons" by the Ownership Class. It was created to siphon off money from our Public Schools System and put it into "private" pockets.
It is also a way for the White Flight Suburbs to re-segregate their schools and bust the Teacher's Unions.
The US already HAS a Public School System that exists in our Public Commons.
For the most part, it is a good system.
FIX the broken parts by INCREASING Funding,
and paying for better housing, books, teachers, libraries, assistance to struggling students,
and quality after school and pre-school programs. !
You will know them by their WORKS,
not by their rhetoric, promises, or excuses.
