request to witness the interrogation of the 12 Russian intelligence officers. Mueller has not made such a request.
When asked about the Mueller investigation, Putin said in exchange for Mueller being allowed to witness the interrogation of the 12, Russia might, for example, get Bill Browder for tax evasion/fraud in Russia. Saying also that Browder gave Clinton money for election.
Browder lobbied for Congress to pass the "Magnitsky Act".
On a recent episode of Trumpcast, Bill Browder joined Jacob Weisberg to discuss the Magnitsky Actthe supposed reason why Donald Trump Jr. met with a group of Russians during the campaign.
Browder, author of Red Notice: A True Story of High Finance, Murder, and One Mans Fight for Justice, hired Sergei Magnitsky to investigate why the Russian police had raided and seized his companys offices in June 2007. Magnitsky found that Browders company had been seized to steal $230 million in taxes it had paid to the Russian government.
Magnitsky was arrested, tortured, and killed in 2009, and Browder later pushed Congress to pass the Magnitsky Act, which sanctions people connected with Magnitskys murder. This conversation has been edited and condensed for clarity.

(90,764 posts)For instance, we can bring up the Mr. Browder in this particular case. Business associates of Mr. Browder have earned over $1.5 billion in Russia. They never paid any taxes, neither in Russia nor in the United States, and yet the money escaped the country. They were transferred to the United States. They sent huge amount of money, $400 million as a contribution to the campaign of Hillary Clinton. Well, that's the personal case. It might have been legal, the contribution itself, but the way the money was earned was illegal.
