If you could unseal Obamas Columbia University records I believe youd find that:
A) He rarely ever attended class.
B) His grades were not those typical of what we understand it takes to get into Harvard Law School.
C) He attended Columbia as a foreign exchange student.
D) He paid little for either undergraduate college or Harvard Law School because of foreign aid and scholarships given to a poor foreign students like this kid Barry Soetoro from Indonesia.
If you think Im fishing then prove me wrong. Open up your records Mr. President. What are you afraid of?
If its okay for U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to go on a fishing expedition about Romneys taxes (even though he knows absolutely nothing about them nor will release his own), then I think I can do the same thing. But as Obamas Columbia Class of 83 classmate, at least I have more standing to make educated guesses.
Its time for Mitt to go on the attack and call Obamas bluff.

(13,992 posts)Your attendance record would not show up on your college transcripts.

(11,795 posts)Not all professors, but many, many do, especially in small colleges where discussion is an integral part of the grade.
I don't take attendance, but some of my colleagues do.

(33,688 posts)and the only time the roll was taken was in recitation or lab sessions. Not that it would have been on my transcript in any case.

(11,795 posts)and I should've written that.
Some profs at large universities take attendance, too. It really depends, nowadays. When I was an undergrad, in the mid-'90s, there was a 3 absence policy: 3 misses, and you automatically failed the class. Yeesh.
My policy is if you miss class, you're probably going to fail simply because you're not there to participate, and you won't get the nuances of discussion and lecture.
That, and you'll miss quizzes.
But I could give a rat's arse if my students don't come to class. Their loss. I really don't have an attendance problem, though. I have very good students.
nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)They did, most of my profs did...just for accuracy sake. One of them did it the HS way, everybody was assigned a seat in the grid. It was also a cass with very high demand and you could lose your spot in the first three weeks for ack of it.
My husband is currently attending a JC. All his profs take roll.
I suspect one reasons for that is increased demand.
In fact, mine was the largest in the system.

(31,849 posts)the attendance reports of those colleagues that take attendance show up on college transcripts?
RZM
(8,556 posts)In a large class, it's rarely taken in lecture, but usually is in discussion section. That's been my experience, anyway. But as mentioned above, it's done informally and wouldn't be on any transcript.

(14,177 posts)It wasn't Obama that started this. I forget who she was that started it. Secondly this hasn't been a requirement before. Maybe it should be a requirement, but lets get the old requirements met before we move on to new ones. Thirdly, we already know Obama graduated with honors. Fourthly, are we back to that birther nonsense again, give me a break.

(1,374 posts)This is not a typical part of the vetting process for candidates. At least, not that I'm aware of.
Tax returns, however, ARE relevant and typically released by politicians - thanks to Romney's own father.
False equivalency. They're just digging for dirt because they have no legitimate arguments against Obama, what he's done as president and his proposed policies.

They all fall in the same box for me . . . the "President Ni##er" people. That's all they are, and this is their "politically correct" way of saying that. They all wish it was the 1950s, when everything was separate and "everyone else" knew their place and bowed to the white man's every whim.

(14,177 posts)I said that Obama should release everything from his birth certificate, his grades from k-12, his college transcripts, if he ever got a ticket, his library card info and throw in a urine sample to boot. I was kidding about the urine sample. Guess someone takes those urine samples a little to seriously.

(22,336 posts)When I said that Romney was hiding something, he said, "Well what is Obama hiding about his college records?" And I said, and I'll stand by it, that a record of what Obama got in Philosophy 101 that long ago is not parallel to whether Romney paid the taxes he should have, or for that matter any taxes at all, especially in the very recent past.
