4. There's no precedent because no one has ever done it before.

The fact that Trump is the only president in history to talk alone with his country's worse adversary for hours without any representative of the U.S. present to record what was said, what was agreed to, and where Trump drew the line is unprecedented.

That you have a president who appears to be acting against the interests of the United States gives Congress the power under its oversight function to do whatever it takes to find out what the fuck is going on. That includes having the only other American in the room testify about what was said.

Of course, if you're a Republican it's party over country every time, so don't expect anything to be done.
