Washington Post's Glenn Kessler has given Reid four Pinnochio's (called him a liar)

people are commenting to beat the band on this one. Here's the link if anybody else is interested in jumping into the meley.

my comment:

You have to wonder, given how much the Republicans would LOVE to back up their accusation that Reid 'is a liar' (oh, how delicious THAT would be to the GOP) - you have to wonder WHY DOESN'T ROMNEY RELEASE THE RETURNS FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS TO PROVE REID IS WRONG??????

Could it be, COULD IT BE - that Reid is repeating accurately something a former Romney colleague has told him?

Considering how bloodthirsty (for Democratic blood) the GOP is, you have to wonder WHY DOESN'T ROMNEY PROVE HIM WRONG?? IS IT BECAUSE HE'S RIGHT????

for which there is no information?

That's merely a hypothesis.

We'll know if it's true or false when the information becomes available.

this is just Glenn Kessler saying he doesn't believe Reid. That's fine, but it's not fact checking.

If you don't have evidence with which to REFUTE Reid's claim (your team of "experts" think it's "highly unlikely?&quot , HOW CAN YOU CLAIM THAT HE'S LYING?

You're certainly entitled to have a low opinion of how Reid has been conducting himself. But that in itself doesn't make him a liar!

He made a statement about what someone told him... period. There is no lie and anyone saying there is - is throwing out a strawman to muddle the actual statement made. Barbara Boxer is right, he's not lying.

To use the word "lie", Kessler must either have seen Romney's tax returns with his own eyes, or he's taking the word of someone very credible on this issue. I demand to know who that is.
