The worlds leading brick-and-mortar retailer, led by CEO Doug McMillon, is considering a streaming service, according to a report. Although details are scarce, a Walmart entry could undercut other streaming services on the market by charging no more than $8 a month.
Walmart sees an opportunity because it believes Amazon and Netflix are seen as more popular with people on the East and West Coasts of the US, according to TheInformation, which first reported on Walmarts plans, citing sources.
Walmarts effort would be aimed at Americas heartland, the report said.
Walmart told The Post it doesnt comment on rumors and speculation.
A streaming service from the discounter could spur subscribers into doing more online shopping with the chain (Walmart).
