I'm guessing she is an ex-smoker... and the high country of Colorado is no place for someone with the beginnings of emphysema.
Her voice sounds horrible. And she is struggling to finish a long sentence.

(29,204 posts)and when my dad would come visit (before he died of lung cancer) he would be just like her right now.
Labored breathing, voice sounds horse, trailed off on a long sentence.
Nothing against her... but if she is an ex-smoker I hope someone has a tank of oxygen for when the camera is off.

(6,551 posts)And you're right. Scored a huge story yesterday, and she made many, many in person and TV appearances. Her last live TV appearance was after 11 pm ET.

(13,869 posts)That she looks great for 71.
And I think she is as sharp as ever or she wouldnt be able to keep up her schedule on TV.
Im a fan of hers; just hate to think she has to sleep next to that mummified carcass at night (i.e., Alan Greenspan).

(29,204 posts)altitude sickness is also sneaky... and while Aspen isn't like 12,000 feet... it is still pretty high (8,000 feet).
She does look tired... I'm sure the interview she did yesterday plus all of the after interview spots she did for the rest of the MSNBC hosts probably took it out of her.

(115,692 posts)Air is about 20% O2, regardless of altitude. The problem is that as altitude increases, air pressure, which is is basically the total weight of the air above a specific area, decreases. When you breathe in air at sea level, the atmospheric pressure (about 14.7 lbs./sq. in.) causes oxygen to easily pass through your lung membranes into the blood, but at high altitudes, the lower air pressure makes it more difficult for oxygen to enter your system.

(102,270 posts)She may not be out there to ski/hike or other exertion, but the advice I always give visitors to come in a day or more early and at least acclimate a day or so at "Mile High" altitude, should apply to quite a few of these reporters as well, especially if the have any health issues. Even worse if they are not accustomed to drinking lots of fluids.

(29,204 posts)spent a few weeks in the winter there too (while otherwise living in Denver the rest of the time).
I would tell everyone to come early, don't plan to do a lot for a day or so.

(49,383 posts)I have a ton of pity for them. Those in the MSM who "unwittingly" aided his election victory are guilty of professional negligence. I've no pity for a single one.
