...all the leaders of the Democratic Party.
They had just won the House and Senate in a grueling campaign.
Like a football team in a huddle, they put their heads together to figure out the best way to go as the new majority Party?
The first item on the agenda was whether or not to impeach Donald J Trump? After much deliberation, they concluded that they would wait until the Mueller investigation had concluded their mission before making the decision?
Whether or not to impeach will depend on several factors between now and election day. Will the Mueller investigation be permitted to finish? Will the attacks upon our institutions become so burdensome that impeachment is the only solution? Much will depend on what happens between now and then, in my opinion.
It is unpredictable.

(10,828 posts)Because we don't have crystal balls and can't see the future. Impeachment is only one side of the issue. If we win the House we'll have the votes to Impeach but without a two-thirds majority in the Senate there's no conviction. And that Senate majority is not going to happen in one cycle even if the elections exceed our wildest expectations.
The whole point at this moment is to corral and contain the Trumpster. If a sufficient number of Republicans lose their seats, they might swing to hold the Trumpster accountable. But I'm not betting money on it. There's also the chance that as the heat rises, the Trumpster will resign. I wouldn't place a bet there because then he's wide open to serious legal liability. The hounds are all over his financial issues and mob-related dealings.
What I am willing to bet on is that we have a better chance to limit the Trumpster's damage by winning in November. If we fail? All bets are off.
