But I definitely have noticed that. Some police departments are so bad the FBI and DOJ come down on them though I'm sure this will happen less under Sessions.

and NOT the SD Police who were allowing the neo Nazi Proud Boys group to incite violence at an Impeach Trump rally a year ago. I didn't understand the difference until then. They are elected and hired by the police(at least that is what I am beginning to understand). I never liked law enforcement due to too many stories from people I know who have experienced their abuse of their authority, but I never knew there was a difference between the groups. The sheriffs had to be told to separate the neo Nazis from our peaceful rally after they spent an hour with bullhorns drowning out the guest speakers. One speaker was a council member and called the chief of police to do something or there would have been violence. After her call the hired Sheriffs finally separated their neo Nazi counterparts/Proud Boys from our group of several thousand. I noticed the same during a Border Wall Protest last Spring. There were police, sheriffs, and SWAT teams there. The peaceful protesters were on one side of the street (I was one) and the rude, verbally abusive Pro Wall protesters were on the other side. All three law enforcement groups were there in huge numbers (they outnumbered the protesters) and all of them faced OUR SIDE!!!!! They had rifles, shields, helmets, etc all, pointed at US!

Thermally formed kevlar composite. Will stop a .44 bullet. The idea that the thugs need to armor up like this to face picket signs and a passionate bullhorn is absolutely ludicrous.
The fact that the cops allow this pond scum to stand anywhere near them doesn't make anybody on that side of the street look good.

Some of those who join forces, are those that burn crosses! (Rage! against the Machine)

Authoritarian types tend to be attracted to law enforcement This not to say that all cops are authoritarian but LE seems to draw them in high numbers.

It has a tendency to attract those who wish to bully others. We don't screen well enough in so many cases.

I still think that most cops are good guys who want to do good for their communities, but there are obviously bad apples out there. They seem to be concentrated in ICE, too.

Although policing does attract the high testosterone type, most police officers are just men and women that are trying to earn a paycheck.

Where I do think there is a problem is that racist organizations have made a point for close to two decades to infiltrate police departments and have gotten a lot of people in.

The second problem that I see is the blue wall of silence. If a cop is using hate language against a certain group of people, it will only be a matter of time before the language escalate to abuse then unjustified violence. Cops that are decent people often see those things happening and keep their mouths shut.
