As Budget Crunch Approaches, House Republicans Are In Total Chaos

Stan Collender

August 1, 2018 4:32 am

Consider all of the following now that the House of Representatives has left Washington until after Labor Day:

Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is a lame duck speaker who no longer seems to care about supporting Trump or Trump’s legislative agenda. Ryan has no heir-apparent who, as Ryan increasingly checks out, has the authority to take over what was an already very unruly House Republican caucus.

There are three candidates to replace Ryan who are openly campaigning for the job and dividing the GOP caucus. This competition will likely get worse when the House reconvenes.

One of the three speaker candidates is Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the former chairman of the House Freedom Caucus. But the caucus, which had been so influential in determining the House legislative agenda this decade, now seems to be on its last legs. And Jordan has been accused by dozens of people of knowing about but not reporting sexual abuse when he was an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University.

Some might say the same about the Democratic Party, but we could change that.

Paul Ryan saw the writing on the wall some time ago, and decided not to run for re-election. Many other Republican legislators have made similar decisions.

If we are paying attention, we will understand that a unified Democratic Party can regain control of Congress - the House in 2018 and the Senate in 2020. If we are not paying attention, we will not learn that lesson and allow the Republicans to retain control.

I suggest we pay attention and work our unified asses off with GOTV to ensure that we get back our majority control of Congress within the next four years. If we do not, it may well be our last opportunity.

Seriously!

And I must.have missed in the news about how there.are.dozens of people attesting to Gym lying his ass off about knowledge of the.sexual abuse and saying nothing and doing sweet fuckall to stop it. I am glad theres so many people to come forward on that.

He cannot be allowed anywhere near 3rd in-line to the Presidency. No no no

And I hope the rest of those jackals eat other in the competition. They're the only people who can stomach each other, after all.

Scary prospects. When so many of the top party members resign, you just know something is afoot and about to drop.

Who among them would be worthy?

or, will one policy dispute among Democrats override this story and we'll get "Dems in Disarray" stories?
