I went to open my outlook email and up pops a Microsoft service agreement. I have two options, 1) agree and get access 2) disagree and instantly lose access.
I was frozen out on using any of my Microsoft products until I agreed to the 4 page document. I do object to the statement that I agree that MS can collect data on my usage.
What data do they collect? My personal computer usage is none of their business.

(2,068 posts)MS is no different than any other tech firm providing these services. Most of the time, these agreements are updates to privacy policies that others institute.

(60,010 posts)We've been using Linux for almost 8 years now. It is open source, and much much info available on the web.
Doesn't crash, doesn't snoop. I have never seen a bullying demand from it.
You can use one of several browsers with Linux, I use Firefox, and Opera.
We use Thunderbird e-mail client with it.,
Downside is it does not run many Microsoft programs. but Linux has a lovely suite of office apps. and it was not difficult to
adjust to them.
Mr. dixie is the computer tech of the household, so he did the switchover from Microsoft for our computers.
Once installed, it just chugs along .

(12,618 posts)You can always use open office instead of MS Office and you can use Linux instead of Windows. The good news is both of them are free.

(6,344 posts)I have some learning to do. I want to use something other than office 365 and I really hate windows 10.
