He apparently knew one of his coaches was a wife beating creep, and lied about it.

Urban Meyer has been caught lying about his knowledge of a former assistant coach's alleged domestic abuse & I believe Ohio State is going to have to fire him. These details are damning, much worse than Jim Tressel: https://t.co/UdmXW8bsYV

Text messages I have obtained, an exclusive interview w/the victim & other information I have learned shows Ohio State coach Urban Meyer knew in 2015 of domestic abuse allegations against a member of his coaching staff despite his denial last week https://t.co/fcxi8GKyeI

Zach Smith was a public employee, hired to be a coach, leader, role model for 18-22 year old students. If Urban Meyer continued to employ him knowing he was a serial domestic abuserand therefor unfit for that jobUrban Meyer deserves to be fired and will be fired.

This is important to keep in mind. Wherever the reporting takes this situation, it is not because of a conspiracy against Urban Meyer or Ohio State. This is @Brett_McMurphy, a top-notch journalist, doing his job. Certainly others will join in that effort now. https://t.co/czNRBHOr4G

(14,972 posts)He will, of course, probably get a bunch of it, as well as a new job at another big-time college program after a year or two because that's how morally bankrupt NCAA football is.

Remember when McConnell and some of the top Republicans said Roy Moore should drop out of the race when the allegations of his molesting young girls came out? I bet it took McConnell or one of the others one phone call to confirm that was true, or probably true. If it even took that. One of the Alabama Congressmen may have already known all about it. I'm still kind of surprised Trump and the rest changed tunes and ended up backing him.

(30,481 posts)There is a reason these institutions love Meyer. He is as aggressive as it gets when it comes to recruiting and few are able to pull money from boosters like he is. He is also really good at keeping truly heinous behavior under wraps. We had multiple players under his system at UF who had student escorts. Not for safety. Just to make sure they didn't go astray. Many still went astray. It is my understanding he was even fully aware of what Hernandez was into before coming to UF.
