(73,559 posts)Rep. Swalwell is a good man. I'd think he should be considered for VP in 2020.
All congressional democrats need to stand together with him to form a united front against this tyranny.

No e-commerce. No travel. Everyone taking personal time off or otherwise not showing up for work.
Or play: cancel your trip to the gym. Or to the beach/lake/river.
Total shut down. (OK, police/fire/ems/hospitals excepted on humanitarian grounds).
Everyone else STAYS HOME.
Considering whats at stake, we all need to make our voices heard.

(19,572 posts)In fact, I believe most of them are republicans.
Mueller is a republican appointed by a republican.
tRump is trying to influence public opinion of his moronic base to keep the reps from impeaching him.
lapfog_1
(29,205 posts)His constant provable lies and cooperation with Putin and other dictators around the world are sufficient to warrant removal from office.
To be precise if tRump fires Mueller, he'll have abrogated the Contitution, and will continue as president if he has the support of the military and intelligence community. If he doesn't have their support, his service will be, er terminated.

(18,663 posts)But this country does not have a history of the military deciding who is or is not president. I would rather we not start such a history, even in our current situation.
When he does what he's considering doing, we'll no longer have a constitution in effect. He'll have attempted a coup.

We would not save the country by turning it into a military dicatatorship

(3,056 posts)But desperate times call for desperate measures. A hallmark of our society is that we are a CIVILIAN lead democracy, with a military that takes it's orders from a civilian leader. But when that leader is a traitorous bastard, being supported by feckless cowards that not only refuse to acknowledge reality, and who are refusing to even look at the evidence of his conspiracy, we have to think outside the box. If the Russians manage to throw the November election, and Dems don't take over the House, it will be time to take whatever action is necessary to keep him from declaring himself "President for Life" and giving the keys to The White House to his handler, Putin. I think it can be done without the military, but if that's what becomes necessary (remember, his followers are heavily armed and crazy), we have to keep our fingers crossed that we have a military that respects The Constitution. I think we do. I really can't see a military dictatorship developing. Also, remember that for all his bravado, he is NOT popular with the military. I think they'd do this in a heartbeat, and then give us the keys back.

If Trump thinks elections will be tough, just try firing the Special Counsel
If we don't win this election, he could do it after the election which would effectively end the rule of law

WinstonSmith4740
(3,056 posts)Flip the House blue, and start impeachment proceedings. Even the threat of impeachment would probably blow that asshole out of the Oval Office. The same rethugs who lit their hair on fire and impeached Clinton over a blow job will wring their hands and whine about the damage being done to the country. Nothing, NOTHING will do more damage to our country than this idiot. He'll either explode, or quit, all the time holding onto the mistaken idea that this will all end if he resigns.
I think most of us here have a fantasy of seeing him frog-marched out of the WH in cuffs, but I've gotten to the point where I don't care how it happens, as long as it happens.
WinstonSmith4740
(3,056 posts)He's got a definite spine...I'd really like to see him on the ticket in 2020. I originally was thinking the #2 slot, but if he keeps going like he's been, I'd vote for him in a heartbeat.
