Judge Kavanaugh has canceled at least 2 meetings with GOP Senators...due to protests

Last edited Wed Aug 1, 2018, 05:58 PM - Edit history (1)

See update at bottom. A least they made the conservatives aware of their dislike. It didn't sway Thune, however.

So far, Kavanaugh has cancelled meetings with @SenJohnThune, @SenJohnHoeven, and looks like possibly his one now with Boozman, rather than talk to us about healthcare, checks on exec pwr, women’s right to choose, gun control, & more. Be a shame if he missed Rubio too. #SCOTUS

Tell me what democracy looks like!

Update: Thune end-runs around protestors, meets with Kavanaugh.

After today’s meeting with Judge Kavanaugh, I am confident that the president’s nominee has exactly what it takes to defend the Constitution and call balls and strikes from the bench. I will support his nomination to the Supreme Court this fall.

Where are the civility police to stop this rabble from advocating for its mere existence against their betters? Our faultless Senators know what's best for the American people! You're just sucking around for a good scolding from Frank Bruni or the Washington Post editorial page. And you'll totally deserve it!

A couple of those young people are raising their fists! And some of the people (the woman on the right with the orange sign, for example) in that hall have that certain je ne sais quois that causes police officers to fire their service weapons. And don't even get the civility cops started on that hooligan with the backwards baseball cap.

This is just going to ruin cocktail hour, I know it!

But don't be surprised when you hear/read/see some of these specious "arguments" advanced by the civility police, tut-tutting people fighting for their very existence because they're inconveniencing the hoi megaloi.

scares these Republican senators. Demonstrations don't matter squat except as they predict the vote.

Just like lyin Ryan, critters will happily skidaddle when they have their unmarked bills deposited in an untraceable/untaxable account.

I hope the Kremlin printing presses can keep up with the issuance of so many $100 bills without smearing the ink.

to run again and resume their trajectories in 2020. These days Republicans view electoral office as a stepping stone to wealth and position after putting in their time serving their donors. (No agreement to serve, no backing, no win, no service, no big payoff.)
