Tonight, Michigan elected the first Muslim woman & the first Palestinian-American to US Congress! Nicely done MI-13!
@RashidaTlaib won her race and she is the person if you recall was kicked out of a Trump rally for asking Trump if he ever read the constitution. She is also a Democratic Socialist like AOC.

2. She did win on "democratic socialism" any more than AOC did, she won by being

a Democrat, in an area that supports Dems.

I for one am glad she won, she will be a great rep in DC! A great pick up for our party!

4. Tlaib has NO Republican opponent in the GE, so

she will be her district's representative in congress. Muslim Americans really need not just assurance from their fellow Americans against the rejection and outright hate from the right,but power in congress.

I like that 42-year-old Tlaib brings real experience -- and a record -- to this hugely important position as she was a Democratic member of the state legislature before this. I also like both that she works within the mainstream of Democrats and that her appeal is nevertheless broad enough to draw the endorsement of those who are now calling themselves democratic socialists a la Ocasio.

Good job, Rep. Tlaib!
