When Sally Yates went hurriedly to the WH [Don McGahn/trump] to tell them Mike Flynn had lied to the VP, and was potentially compromised, she was lying.
Yates was correct: Flynn was horribly compromised, and couldn't be NSAdviser [took a while to fire him though, didn't it], but she also knew that Pence was fully aware of Flynn's compromised position. She was giving trump an 'excuse' [one he didn't want, but couldn't dismiss] to get rid of Flynn.
When trump/pence figured out that Yates knew the VP wasn't lied to [since he was aware of Flynn's connections via Elijah Cummings, they realized how truly DANGEROUS Yates [and others in the IC/DOJ] were to them, so she was fired. First of many.
I bring this up now b/c going forward, we are going to see a lot more of Yates, Comey, maybe even President Obama [since trump foolishly accused Obama of 'spying' on hiim], at various trials and committee hearings.
Imagine President Obama, sworn in and testifying!

(37 posts)Of course Sally Yates [who I adore] knew Pence was AWARE that Flynn was compromised--Elijah Cummings told him so in November, 16]. So, when she said to trump, via WH Counsel, that Flynn lied to Pence, she knew that wasn't true b/c Pence KNEW Flynn was compromised.
She didn't lie as much as she was discreet. She only told a criminal POTUS what was required of her. But when trump later figured out that Yates [and probably everybody else at DOJ] knew that Pence knew about Flynn, he went crazy.
That was when it 1st occurred to trump how deep a hole he was in. He thought taking the Oath made him bulletproof, but instead, it drew a bullseye on his head.
I'm PRAISING Sally Yates, not bashing her.

(102,421 posts)I realize you are new, but when you post something like this and your fellow Duers ask for an explanation, it is important that you come back to the thread and interact/explain. Otherwise, you leave yourself open to misunderstandings.

(37 posts)Yates is a hero. Her "lie" was omitting all the details of the criminal investigation of trump.
And she was right to do so. Interesting, though, how Pence ran w/ her story that Flynn "lied" to him. Pence was told about Flynn long before this went down.
Pence's sole defense in this conspiracy is based on a lie that Sally Yates fed him in order to later ensnare him!

(6,856 posts)When Yates said Flynn lied to the VP, she did not believe this. She was giving them cover to fire Flynn on the basis that he had lied to the VP. The poster believes that Yates believed that the VP was just as guilty as Flynn and that no one lied to him.
Now we can all weigh in on whether Yates believed what she was saying to be true. The poster does not believe it to be true.
I suspect that Yates was not lying but she held back on her impression that the VP was guilty, too. These were her new bosses. She owed them some semblance of loyalty ... some chance to start doing the right thing.
The I know you are new here comment is not called for. The poster may have had to work and could not answer right away. The comment on Yates was fair.

(102,421 posts)and, no, I was trying to save the poster from a misunderstanding that could have resulted in a jury alert. So, your comment is wrong on two scores.

(6,856 posts)And he/she was offering an explanation for what could appear to be an inconsistency in Yates positions. An explanation that makes sense.

(102,421 posts)especially the sections about supporting Democrats and not bringing in RW memes. Those are frequent sources of misunderstandings that lead to jury alert.
Once you've served on a lot of juries, you will see how easy it is for posts to be misunderstood and thus alerted on under those criteria. Mistakenly suggesting that Sally Yates lied is consistent with current RW memes.

(102,421 posts)Many of us here watched her entire testimony before Congress. She was very very very clear.

Sally Yates is not a Democratic candidate. She was a public servant. While we sense she is one of ours, her conduct when she was still a government employee is open for discussion here.
I did not recognize any right wing memes/allusions to right wing memes in the post.
I am eligible to sit on juries. When do the less than 10,000 posters gain equal standing with the rest of you? Or should we just bug out now because there are those more equal than others?

(102,421 posts)I tried to explain to you and perhaps to help you avoid a misunderstanding as well. Take it or not. At this point you seem to be just trying to find someone to fight with and it will not be me.
