A Tale of Festering Rage and an Insane President

My wife and I were walking our two dogs, Dude and Sam, a couple of days ago. We took a short walk that we often take, since it was very hot and humid. As we passed one house, walking on the city sidewalks, the dog inside barked at our two, as it often does. Both the dogs and we ignored the barking, as we typically do. As always, our two dogs are leashed.

After we passed the house, I heard a noise. The dog in the house, a pit bull mix of some sort, had burst out of the house's side door and was racing toward our two dogs. I stepped in between the dog and ours and shouted, "NO!" Despite that, the dog tried to attack our beagle/basset. I managed to prevent that, just as the woman who lives in that house came out the door. The pit bull mix turned and headed toward her.

I said to the woman, "Please try to keep your dog from getting loose."

In return, the woman went into a fit of shouting, obscene rage at me, my wife, and our two quiet, inoffensive dogs. We resisted responding in kind and walked on as she shouted at us: "Keep your goddamn fucking dogs off my street!"

This is why Donald Trump is President. This is why we can't have nice things.

The sidewalks, either. However, she apparently believes she somehow does. My wife and I have been taking that particular walk for over five years, actually. At one point, the woman who owns that house had a sign over her garage door that read:

"Asshole's Neighbor"

Now, that sign gave me a clue long ago. She is apparently not the sort of neighbor one wants next door, I'd think. I'm pretty sure the " 's " was not appropriate on her sign.

Anyhow, her dog has never gotten out before while we've walked past. We'll be walking on the other side of that street from now on. I think the best response is to avoid the problem, really. She was triggered by her dog escaping from the house, I suppose, and converted her alarm at that into anger at us as the "cause" of her dog's misbehavior.

We're good friends with another homeowner, whose house abuts the rear yard of that woman. Our friend has many stories about angry responses from the same person in ordinary situations. Apparently, it's a pattern.

Here they take loose aggressive dog complaints very seriously.

Once her dogs were on the sidewalk then it is a public place. She obviously is also someone who should not be allowed to have dogs. What an awful person she is just overall.

Pit bulls are also naturally docile dogs unless like any dog they are trained to be aggressive or treated badly. My dog (Chihuahua) is being trained to not be aggressive since he was an abused rescue so he has issues. He has recently made so much progress that he is now friends with other dogs on my street.

I also love your dogs names Dude and Sam.

This is the first time, and we've walked past that house many, many times. We'll just walk on the other side of the street from now on.

Aggressive loose dogs are always a problem for people who enjoy walking their dogs. We know where those dogs are, so we avoid them on our walks. This one hadn't gotten loose before. The woman's reaction was so far over the top, though, that we'll make a point of avoiding her house in the future.

we had him, he was fine with visitors to the house. Over the next year, we had house painters, and later we had construction in the home, men coming and going. No one mistreated our dog. But he became possessive, and began barking at anyone coming near the house. He will bite. We have to crate him if anyone comes over. The vet said it happens sometimes.

My driving habits have changed. I very carefully try to avoid triggering other drivers these days. I've always been a defensive driver, but now, I'm even more watchful and make sure to signal my intent and to avoid any chance of putting other drivers on the defensive.

Fortunately, I do not have to commute, so I can avoid the busiest times of day.

but you should call animal control anyway, and report the lady's inability to keep her potentially dangerous dog leashed or contained. Just get it on the record.

We had a beagle / cattle dog mix ~ 30 lbs that got loose from us one time, and started to run across the alley toward a neighbor in his back yard. My wife yelled at the dog and stopped her, I ran and grabbed her leash, she never got onto the neighbor's property.

He was a long time neighbor of ours, and called animal control on us, immediately, anyway. For a dog that was < 15" at the shoulder, that didn't get onto his property.

They came, we showed the license and proof of rabies shots, etc. We got a lecture about our 'dangerous' dog. If this lady has all her paperwork in order, she'll get a lecture and is on the record for slipping up.

And I bet you she is a tRump humper.

Often on the road.

Our family has a joke that I am “training” the deer in our little valley because when I see them on the road I beep at them.

When I did this yesterday the driver of the car coming the other way waved her arms and made mean faces, apparently misunderstanding that I was beeping at her?, and totally pissed about it. Not an iota of grace or even questioning why the beeping.

Several months ago I was behind a small truck that had branches stuck in the axle. I tried for many miles to signal to him about his problem. All I got was a middle finger and probably could have gotten worse! No thought apparently that I might be trying to help; only hostility and anger. Probably fear-based.

Mind you, this is a small, rural valley with a limited number of residents. Not a huge anonymous metropolis.

Too bad.

I feel you.

it's that there is no such thing as personal responsibility, anywhere. Trump never takes responsibility for anything, only credit. He openly lies and refuses to take responsibility for those lies. Even on the off chance that he does tell the truth, he will never take responsibility for the harm his truths cause, ie. separating children from their parents at the border, and the negligible effects on the middle class of his tax scam give-away to the rich. He never takes responsibility for anything, except for other people's hard work. Then he'll steal their thunder without a second thought.

This woman definitely has a case of the Trump responsibility syndrome. Small, small people......all.
