If only some of that happens, it would be amazing. I so wish I didn't have this fear that the repubs with russia's help will just cheat to win. I know folks that are truly scared. If trump can end a raise for Federal employees, he and the repubs can cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. You would think folks on these programs or soon to be would not vote for the repubs in November. I know a couple who are old enough to retire, but will keep working. They have applied for Social Security and hope that any cuts will not apply to those already collecting. My anger over trump and his repub lackeys grows every day. I hope folks realize just how serious this is and vote in November.

issues closely. The hope that people already on these programs won't be affected is a false hope. At one point, one of the proposals was to cut these programs by 20% immediately. I think that one was run up the flagpole shortly after Paul Ryan said he wasn't running for his house seat again.

They are old farts who think welfare is ruining the economy by keeping lazy blah people in air conditioners, TV's and refrigerators. Old Foxers who think the Dems are demon spawn out to get the government's hands (sigh) on their medicare and social security. Droolers who don't get it that the GOP includes them in their definition of useless eaters and life's losers not deserving of any fairness or assistance.

The GOP tells them that America, white America, will come back, will be great again, will provide them with everything they need, will incarcerate or expel the brown and black skinned people who have stolen their jobs by getting welfare and free this and free that without working (and don't ask how such lazy people who do not work could have stolen jobs that, in reality, do not exist!).

And with all the information any citizen needs to be properly informed about their country and the world it inhabits, they turn a blind eye to everything but the propaganda mills of Fox, Breitbart, and the babbling angry drunks at the end of the bar.

(I'm 73, btw. I know some of these old buzzards and have long since given up trying to get through to them with reason and logic.)

the Republicans know that once they do it they will lose those voters and be voted out. They have been waiting for the right conditions, possibly next year if they hold the trifecta in 2018 and believe its their last chance.

I think Trump will back off freezing the pay increase for Federal employees. He's already shown signs of it by saying he would "review his decision". Republicans could lose a lot of votes in the upcoming election over that.
