What will happen if, against all hope, Kavanaugh is NOT confirmed?

1. A second nominee will be rushed through before the election.

2. A second nominee will be rushed through by the lame duck Senate AFTER the election.

3. Drumpf may or may not nominate someone until after the new Senate is seated, but either way there will be no hearings/confirmations until January.

This president shouldn't have anything to do with this SCOTUS pick. He's an un-indicted co-conspirator and is being labeled as being unfit to even be a president.

SCOTUS should be frozen at 8 judges and we should have to wait until the 2020 election and let the new president do the nominating.

The Repugs 'culture of corruption' has caused this mess right from the beginning and it is time for them to step up and deal with Trump and the mess they created.

and tired of hearing about "what's possible" what's allowed, etc. Repugs do NOT play by the rules that some naive DUers keep clinging to. It's not normal to ram a SCOTUS nominee in with minimal vetting. It's time to fight!

11. How do you suggest the Dems "play hardball" and how will that stop Kavanaugh's confirmation?

About why he is nominating someone when he publicly berates the Justice Department and ask him why he picked Kavanaugh and get it all under oath. It is brilliant and would be unprecedented.

15. Under what authority do they (the Senate Democrats) call in Trump?

You don't seem to understand the concept of being in the minority in Congress.

to ask him questions?
Did you forget that they are in the minority and have no subpoena power?

10. I doubt they have anyone else like Kavanaugh - that is,

a judge who is on the record saying that presidents don't have to answer subpoenas, can't be indicted or even investigated. Kavanaugh is an outlier, even for a conservative, and they'll have a tough time finding someone as extreme as he is.

16. the fact they don't have someone on record doesn't mean the person they nominate won't

have the same views.

In fact, if Kavanaugh is such an outlier, then why the concern -- it takes five votes. So unless you think the four current republicans on the court are the only other "outliers" there is no reason to think anyone Trump finds will fit the same mold.

That will probably be even worse.

(remember the rule of Republicans. The new one is ALWAYS worse than the last one)

Kavanaugh is well on his way to being confirmed, unless something really scandalous comes out in the next few days, and I'm not holding my breath for that to happen.
