Some states actually like "moderate" Democrats.

(67,782 posts)...true Democrats don't feel the need to "categorize" Democrats, the fact that they are Democrats is good enough for them (and me).

(11,931 posts)showing as far as traditional Delaware and a progressive, non-incumbent goes. She should concentrate on finishing her bachelor's degree and plan on running against Carper again. Coons is younger. I wouldn't vote for Harris if she ran against Coons, but I would vote for her next time if she primaries Carper again. I thought, considering the political disaster in DC, we needed to keep Carper. IMO, he panders to the right too much because he wants to 'be friends' across the aisle. He's not for medicare for all, he was against buying drugs from Canada before he was for it, but he's always been for women's reproductive rights, he's championed environmental laws, etc.
My favorite state rep (Kowalko) only lost one race in his career, which was the first one that he ran. Maybe that will be the case with Harris.

(11,949 posts)Somewhat pragmatic yet reaching for more liberal.
Most importantly not insisting Medicare for all to be a litmus test. There are many ways to achieve Universal Health Coverage and many of do not think Medicare for all is the best.
Again, nice post.

(5,042 posts)Or a US House seat. I think that's the legislative experience many of these candidates need. The US Senate is a pretty heady entry level position.

(11,931 posts)Sounds like a good plan. Just have to keep the Republican's out. Not liking the look of "business man" Scott Walker who will be running against Blunt-Rochester in November.

"Carper, 71, who has held his seat since 2001, previously served two terms as Delawares governor and before that served 10 years in the House."
