Seeing the success of the right in putting

their agenda into play in our lives, it just shows how not being involved, by many of us on the left, let’s them keep power.

This November we have a chance to change things a bit but I am not sure we will have enough votes to do it.

Those of us motivated enough to debate on DU or other sites, who volunteer for campaigns, and who like to stay on top of political and civic news are a minority. 46% of eligible voters DID NOT VOTE during a presidential election. That is a bigger majority than either candidate got.

That is who has to be motivated to get off their butts and choose who will represent them in government. Sadly, as I heard on a radio show this afternoon, a lot of people don't even know we have an election this November.

The agenda of the Right relies on low voter turnout. The higher the turnout, the less chance they have to win. They know that and have been willing to do anything, legal or not, to make it happen and maintain their power. It is easy to depress the vote. All you have to do is convince people who are already busy or apathetic, that choosing a President, Senator, or Representative, won't really have that much effect on their lives.

You can post all day here but if you don’t vote it really is a waste of time.

As the previous post points out 46% of us did not vote in the last election. Off year election have been worse.

We can regain power if the majority of us vote.

Voting is the only method we have to make change.

President Obama made that clear today

been pretty cowardly for the past 30 years, emboldening some really bad people to take serious advantage of their unwillingness to be confrontational. All of us down here in the weeds can vote, get out the vote, etc., but we can't seem to make our own leaders be more forceful.
