for a Supreme Court position.
This is absolute madness. These people have no decency, practice no ethics and are partisan hacks.
This nominee should be withdrawn. Lying under oath must be a no no for a judge.

(1,058 posts)convicting and removing him in the Senate is the problem, as it takes 67 Senators to vote for conviction.
I just don't see that happening any time in the future.

(17,235 posts)both under oath and not. Whether it is a so-called president or a nominee to the SCOTUS, lying is ingrained in their DNA. redumbliCONS just don't give a sh't about truth, specially when truth isn't truth.

(10,721 posts)The vast majority of Republicans (be they Congress critters, in the media or members of the base) are, simply put, terrible people. Just terrible, terrible people.

(15,124 posts)the framers of the Constitution had wisely provided for freedom of speech and press and assembly plus the right to petition for redress of grievances for the same reason pressure cookers had safety or "blowout" valves.
Without the small hard rubber plug in the lid designed to pop out in response to very high pressure, pressure cookers could explode like bombs. Without the Constitutional "safety valves" mentioned above, our society may explode. But, something more is needed to prevent the disaster we can all see approaching.
We, the MAJORITY, are voicing our disagreement and displeasure, but NO ONE IN POWER IS LISTENING.
Our press, though late to awaken to the scope of the threat, is exposing the corruption, the hypocrisy and the insanity that has become a "given" in our government. As, a result, this regime slanders individual journalists and threatens to "investigate" or sue news organizations which refuse to praise it.
Our freedom of assembly may not withstand current threats to outlaw protests of the government.
And, our right to petition for redress of grievances seems rather hollow when one pauses to ask: to whom should such petitions be directed? "Who cares?" is no longer just a flippant response but a serious question. Indeed---"Who cares?
If we, THE MAJORITY, are not soon heard---if our valid and serious grievances are not redressed---if this growing miasma of helplessness and hopelessness cannot be dispelled, the explosion will be cataclysmic and, I fear, irreversible.
Just my thoughts before I try to get some rest and try to start fresh tomorrow.

(268,968 posts)If he is appointed, it is all farce. Where is M$Greedia on this? Clinton's lie about sex pales in comparison.
How can a Supreme Court nominee who lied under oath to another branch of government be appointed to the court?

(2,201 posts)Because the majority of people in our country don't know, and don't care. And, they don't care that they don't know.
They just don't give a single fuck about it.
Those of us that follow these things, and see what's going on, are rightfully alarmed.
But, we're a tiny minority. I'd wager that if you randomly surveyed 1000 people on the street, and asked them who Brett Kavanaugh is, less (far less) than 200 people would know he has been nominated for the Supreme Court. And only a very small percentage of those people would know anything about what' s gone on the hearings.
