(14,176 posts)into believing that however much of a liar, a thief, a womanizer, a cheater, a racist, a fool he is, they had been convinced that Hillary was basically the Devil incarnate. So I think many were hand-wringing about their vote. Do I vote for this arrogant crude inexperienced reality star, or vote for one of the world's most evil criminals?...and decided that the former was their best option.

(11,495 posts)Gullible. They are easy to fool, and trump takes advantage of that just as the Republican Party does. Gullible people will believe things they hear over and over, like all the hate spewed during the last election against Hillary.
Other trump supporters are simply people who have voted republican all their lives because their family did. They have been taught from day one that "liberals" are bad, period.
Then you have the racist crowd that include the nazis, KKK, white supremest on other hate groups.
And you have some who just want to belong to the group that claims they are the "only" ones who can fix things, or in the case of some religions, the only ones who have the "truth", and and claim to be Gods chosen people. Religious issues have been used by republicans for decades to get votes by promising them all kinds of things, and a liar like trump was able to to tap into the "fear" factor of religious followers.
Just my thoughts on things.
