New York gubernatorial hopeful Cynthia Nixon's bagel order is horrifying

Cynthia Nixon caused Big Apple stomachs to turn when she ordered a traditional lox and cream cheese with capers — and then had a Zabar’s counter person pile it all on a cinnamon raisin bagel!

“That’s what I want — a full load with cream cheese,” Nixon responds to the deli worker when he offered tomatoes, onions and capers along with the lox. “Sweet and salty,” Nixon added proudly.

The gubernatorial hopeful — who will face Andrew Cuomo in Thursday’s Democratic primary — was shopping for lunch at the smoked fish mecca Sunday when she made the unconventional choice.

And her spokeswoman said the unconventional choice was just an example of the candidate’s support of the underrepresented and the atypical.

“Cynthia Nixon is running to represent those forgotten New Yorkers who need someone to stand up for their views,” a tongue-in-cheek Rebecca Katz tweeted on Nixon’s behalf. “New Yorkers need someone to stand up for their view, even if those opinions are out of the mainstream or even unpopular.”

But she may have a different tast sensation from me. I like a little salt on melon and cantaloupe, that makes some people puke.

17. I am with you...yuck. What I wouldn't give for a real bagel with lox and a smear.

I was diagnosed with celiac and can't eat flour (gluten). The real question is does she eat pizza with a fork? Unthinkable! hehe

I'm sure people have it the regular, plain way and then put sugar in their coffee to have on the side. What's the difference? I say - go for it, Cynthia, lol.

12. In 50 years in and around NYC and its burbs, I don't think I've ever had lox on a bagel.

Then again, as a certified fishbone magnet, I have a greater-than-usual reason to be risk-averse with my bagels.

I think I even remember it ordered on cinnamon raisin a time or two and thinking that was gross. This would have been back in the 90s.

...I’ll give her a pass on this one.

New Yorkers have to be the most peculiar, obnoxious sort when it comes to food.

Would releasing her tax returns make up for this? (Or has she already? I can't confirm.)
