Is it just me? Is that Dotard suffering from dementia, or is that just his preschool way (no offense to preschoolers) of saying something?

(102,236 posts)Someone undoubtedly stressed both the size of the storm and the fact it was likely to stall over coastal communities, bringing with it as much as four feet of rain deluge.
So, to this childish moron, that equates to "tremendously wet"...
Someone feed him some more greasy fast food. His keeling over with his "best health of all the Presidents and his 239 pound body" may be our fastest (only) way back to sanity.

(5,810 posts)He truly is an idiot. Thinks he is being profound. He really is impressed with the sound of his own voice.
But SOME of us can hear and recognize limitations when we hear them. We recognize it when we are hearing the language of a truly intelligent person. And his language tells us the opposite of what he thinks he is conveying. Language and geriatric experts could tell us the technical side of what we are seeing with tRump. But a past record of his language skills compared with his current language tells us something is very different about his verbal skills. He may be functioning on a normal level for day to day living skills but he is definitely showing signs of decline.
Anyone of us who has dealt with a friend or relative who eventually went on to show clear sign of dementia know that there were clues long before the full blown disease appeared. Loss of language skills was often among the first noticeable symptoms.

(5,810 posts)She had worked in all kinds of situations that required a quick mind and ability to assess the situation. She loved her work. And she was good at it.
After she retired (arthritis took its toll on her hips and back) we noticed changes in her driving skills and declines in her language skills. She knew at first that her language was going and it ran her nuts to not be able to think of the word she knew was on the tip of her tongue. You cant begin to imagine what a mess her checkbook was. But she still lived alone or in an apartment in a group setting.
Eventually things got much worse and with that stage, her language, understanding and comprehension declined even more. She got confused very easily. Her anger at not being able to think clearly was a problem, too. It was saddest when she still had enough cognitive skills to know something was very wrong. She lived with me the last three + years of her life.
Part of the problem with tRump is his pre-existing narcissism. That is still firmly in place and clouding the other problems he is exhibiting. But those of us who have been through caring for a loved one with dementia know the signs and symptoms. My guess is they will not be able to conceal it much longer. Looking back at Reagan, the symptoms were there with him, too.

My guess is that he thinks hes like one of Joe Pescis characters stating the obvious in snarky, measured tones.
Not sure if its reflective of impaired cognitive functioning, or just a 72-year-old dude who cannot speak intelligently.
Whatever it is, its imbecilic.
