George Washington Universitys Milken Institute School of Public Health is standing by its study that found an estimated 2,975 excess deaths in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria last year could be attributed to the devastating storm, the school said in a statement on Thursday.
The statement was issued just hours after President Trump tweeted that the nearly 3,000-person death toll was incorrect and had been inflated by Democrats to make him look as bad as possible.
The university disputed that claim. The study, commissioned by the Government of Puerto Rico, was carried out with complete independence and freedom from any kind of interference, the school said. We are confident that the number 2,975 is the most accurate and unbiased estimate of excess mortality to date.

(33,327 posts)now we all run around trying to explain study methodology to a blank wall. the results have now been weaponized. no conservative will ever accept the 2900 number, it would mean listening for longer than 10 seconds.

(82,849 posts)Pwned again, eggheads! All your so-called "facts" and "research" are no match for the Emperor Trump and his unerring pronouncements. If you were really so right, the Emperor Trump wouldn't have to call you out, and by defending your work, you've really undermined it. The Emperor Trump wins again!
Wait and see if something pretty close to this comes back out of the White House or one of botskevitches.
