It's a big storm moving very slowly and staying partially over water, so it isn't falling apart as quickly as some hurricanes do.

Thankfully, that area of NC and SC will drain better and it's mostly rural, so there is less concrete to create river rapids between buildings.

I do feel for the people there, especially the ones in trailers and rickety homes in low lying areas. It isn't going to be pretty after the water is gone.
