assault. Why does the idea that they intend to treat her differently than they would someone else, perhaps a man, not surprise?
What would it take for the republicans to treat her with the respect and dignity that any citizen who comes before them should receive? Why would they treat her as if she were an enemy of the nation? Does not their committee seek the truth? Why is intimidation and threats a tactic in this procedure?
This kind of sexual discrimination is straight out of the era that the alleged sexual assault occurred. They ask why did she wait so long to make the complaint? Well guess what...republicans have never seen women as human beings. They see them as disposable vessels in which they can at will do with as they please.
Republicans hate women for their strength, intelligence and ability to persevere in a world that sees those attributes as white and male. Looks like that is not working out so well anymore.

(7,539 posts)I haven't watched all of The Handmaid's Tale, but I saw that clip of the "court case" where the women had their mouths strapped shut and it was basically "Do you swear she did this? Very well. Execution."
