Kavanaugh should withdraw: A Republican opinion on why.

Evan Siegfried:
Brett Kavanaugh should withdraw his nomination for the good of the Supreme Court and the country

I'm a Republican and support Trump's judicial strategy but the perceived legitimacy of the court is more important than one man.

When President Donald Trump nominated Judge Brett Kavanaugh to replace Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court, I was thrilled. The judge has a resume that makes him unquestionably qualified to sit on the highest court in the land.

Further, I have found the attacks on him made by Democrats until now to be unfounded or pure spectacle made by politicians engaging in theatrics simply because they knew there were cameras on.

The sexual assault allegations by Christine Blasey Ford are different: After reading them, I can no longer support Kavanaugh’s nomination and have concluded that for the good of the country, he must withdraw

But he shows exactly what the "never Trumpers" are about. They love the policies, the rw judicial appointsment, the dumping of regulations on business (but not people), tax cuts galore, gutting the social safety net, limiting or stopping immigration and every other plank in the GOP platform. They just don't love the person sitting atop the pyramid. Change out Pence for Trump and there wouldn't be a peep out of them.

Kavanaugh doesn't give a sh*t about the institution of SCOTUS, or the Judiciary, or The Republic, or the legitimacy of any of them.

Like other lifelong conservative political operatives -- and make no mistake, he's no legal scholar or learned jurist, he's a partisan political hack through and through -- he only cares about having and exercising power to keep the rich rich and the powerful powerful. Specifically doing so NOW, and the devil may care about tomorrow.

Whoever wrote this gobsh*te is King-O'-the-Assclowns.
