My God.. This is pitiful and so sad.

A star college female golfer from Spain attending a University which has
a strong Golf Team.. She probably had professional ambitions for sure.

Playing the course by herself...which so many do including females and men who probably have to be older than a certain age.. I'd say 16?

She was attacked and stabbed to death by a lunatic..who was homeless..
Here's the link.. I play a lot and one would never think that something like this could happen on a golf course...

6. I saw that on the news. Yes, any time you are alone, you can be attacked.

Especially near woods, which is where this was.

That young woman who was jogging and killed by an illegal immigrant...she was jogging alone in a civilized area (sidewalks and paths and buildings nearby) in a city.

DES MOINES, Iowa -- With criminal activity dating back to 2014, 22 year old Collin Richards has a history with the police but also with second, third and fourth chances. Aside from Monday’s alleged murder in Ames, Richards’ charges were primarily in Guthrie county. In fact over fifty pages worth of run-ins with the law ranging from felony theft and harassment, to criminal mischief and drug use. Ten arrests in just four years. Court documents show he served a total of thirty-one days behind bars for some of them but avoided another five years in suspended sentences where he was placed on probation.

An October 2017 Judicial District Department of Correctional Services document out of Guthrie County states Richards’ two probation officers reported that “Mr. Richards has not been successful on probation for any length of time.” They go on to recommend that if a judge finds that Richards is found in violation he should be forced to serve an originally suspended two-year sentence for third degree theft.

The Iowa Department of Corrections says after the recommendation Richards arrived the following month at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center on November 8, 2017 and was transferred to the Mount Pleasant Correctional facility in December. He was discharged seventh months later on June 4, 2018.

Calls to reach out to both probation officers as to why Richards served just eight months before being released were unsuccessful. The Department of Corrections has confirmed he was not currently under any probation, parole or work release program since his release in June.

8. I follow women's golf closely and was familiar with her name

She advanced out of first stage LPGA school school in August. I followed those scores every day and remember noting her as Celia from Spain. Her last name was complicated so I rationalized I'd learn it later if she continued to advance.

Second stage Q School is mid October. That's undoubtedly what she was practicing toward when this tragedy occurred.

I've never heard of an attack like that on any type of golfer, let alone an aspiring pro. These days there is probably more chance to be isolated out on a course since golf has declined in popularity. I have often played solo since maybe age 12...decades ago. Nowadays I enjoy the ability to play rapidly and often extra holes near dusk since the course is basically empty. Granted, I'm a 6-4 male.

This type of attack never occurred to me. From my experience it is very rare to see a female playing alone. I'd hate to be quizzed on the last time I saw it. Her status as a top player preparing for a specific event may have contributed to being alone. Apparently her eligibility had expired but she was still one year from a degree. Iowa State isn't a traditional golf powerhouse. Otherwise she might have had a teammate or another local player also prepping for that Q School event.
