More than 60K sign petition calling on Senate to delay Kavanaugh vote
More than 60,000 people have signed a petition demanding the Senate postpone Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaughs Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation vote in the midst of a sexual assault allegation against him from decades ago.
The Change.org petition, which was started Sunday by a constituent of Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), is well on its way to a 75,000-signature goal, with more than 60,000 signing by early Monday afternoon.
Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, Supreme Court nominee, stands accused of a crime, and it will take a public outcry to ensure these allegations are investigated before the Senate Judiciary Committee votes on his confirmation, the petition reads.
The petition asks the Senate to delay the vote until a full investigation has been done. Change.org noted in a release that the petition was the fastest growing on the website on Monday.
