Maybe Dr. Ford should just go on television and tell her story directly to the American people.

She could go on television and speak right into the camera about what happened, taking away the opportunity for the republicans on the Judiciary Committee to abuse her.

There is nothing they can do to stop her. It's her first amendment right. Kavanaugh isn't going to be able to do a thing about it. Suing her for defamation doesn't seem like it would be an option.

Then let the republicans vote for Kavanaugh, which they were going to do all along, and pay at the polls in November.

make credible allegations against powerful men and are then shunned and scorned and much worse? Lives ruined for speaking out knowing that man with that power will use every ounce of it against you?

Dr. Ford needs to do what is right for her.

Her lawyer can do the job for her...release of another statement from Dr. Ford perhaps?

Doing nothing is also an option...seems Republicans are caught in the hypocrisy trap of their own making. Let them writhe in the political winds for a few more news cycles dominated by this topic.

Al Franken...they can not run away from Al doing the right thing, while the nation sees republicans do not.

But my thought was that she is already being savaged. If she is interviewed accompanied by her lawyer by a friendly, or even neutral, interviewer, then she can tell her story in her own words. (Rachel Maddow's show would be a great venue.)

see it as neutral, will propagandize and twist every word she says...not sure the potential political damage is worth the potential cost.

Due process and common sense and logic demands an investigation. Sticking to that, no need for more, is the respecting the rule of law, not the rule of politics and media.

I also see the Eleven Aging Republican Men are searching for a lawyer to do the questioning...as I have said the optics of that would destroy the Republican Party.

Being smart equals great public speaking skills? Only maybe.

The events of today seems to bear out that there will no Ford testimony without conditions...no just showing up on command.

If the Eleven Republican Men want to gag her with their arbitrary command to show up and just lob softballs at Brett...I dare them as do all American women voters, I would think.

Real problem for Republicans, hoisted on their own petard of hypocrisy.

But the GOP would say she was obstructing justice, which they know all about. Maybe a Monday night prime time interview, after the "hearing," would be better.

Of course Dr. Blasey will do what she needs to for herself and her family.

I'm hoping that the rumored other victims, from Kavanaugh's law school clerking days, will come forward. At least that might silence some of the "high-school highjinks" cretins.

that is not how how SCOTUS nominees get confirmed. It has been only the US Senators who have the sole decision making authority. The House Reps have no say, the president & VP have no say, and neither the other SOCTUS justices can confirm the nominee.

We know the Republicans will twist and turn and intimidate. There will be innuendo, veiled insults, maybe not even veiled. There will be "have you stopped beating you wife?" type questions. She will be asked how much she had been drinking, or was hallucinating on something. How she got in the bedroom in the first place, why she was at that party, why the incident was not reported to authorities at the time. They will destroy her.

Please have her do a TV interview with a well known (non- FOX!) journalist.
