The republicans are terrified. Kavanaugh is turning out to be a major pain in the ass for the republican party and he is soon going to be seen as more trouble than he is worth.

Is that Senator Grassley has his little gavel to put a stop to anything he doesn't like. He did it at the beginning of the proceedings, ignoring all motions by the Democrats to meet in closed session, and ruling any motions he didn't like as out of order. Grassley strikes me as just the sort of tin-plated dictator wannabe that won't scruple at all to abuse the power of the chair to force the outcome he wants.
