Hillary Clinton: You're helping to make history again

Today, I’d like to tell you about a few of the candidates Onward Together has been able to support in their historic campaigns, thanks to the support of our official members like you.

*Lucy McBath is a mother, wife, businesswoman, and activist who is running for Congress in the 6th district of Georgia. After her son, Jordan Davis, was shot and killed at a gas station in Florida by a man objecting to the music Jordan was playing in his car, Lucy turned her grief into action by fighting for both gun safety and criminal justice reform. I was honored to get to know Lucy on the campaign trail in 2015 and 2016, and I’m honored now to support her in her campaign.

*Gina Ortiz Jones is an American Iraq War veteran, intelligence officer, and candidate for Congress in the 23rd district of Texas. Gina’s focus is on creating good-paying jobs and expanding health care options in Texas. If Gina wins in November, she could become the first lesbian, Iraq War veteran, and first-generation Filipina-American to hold a US House seat in Texas. It was a joy to spend some time with Gina recently at a fundraiser for first-time female candidates.

*Stacey Abrams is a member of the Georgia House of Representatives and the Democratic nominee for governor of Georgia who has served as House Minority Leader, founded a voter registration organization, and written eight romance novels. Now she’s running for governor to expand education opportunities and strengthen the economy in Georgia. I was thrilled to endorse Stacey before her primary win in May — if she wins in November, she’ll be the first black woman governor in America.

*Deb Haaland is a lawyer, the daughter of two veterans, an enrolled member of the Pueblo of Laguna, and a candidate for Congress in the 1st district of New Mexico. If Deb wins in November, she’ll be the first Native woman elected to Congress. In addition to being a longtime volunteer on Democratic campaigns, Deb is also a proud alum of the New Mexico affiliate of Emerge America — one of our Onward Together partners.

and I'm retired and can't afford to donate, or if I do it will be small. I can however pray for these fine women and wish them every success. I am working with the Fl Democratic party to get more Dems to their polling place on voting day and will continue doing this twice a week until the election.

We have women running and we need them winning. They are our future. I have had enough of the old white man GOP. Read somewhere that the GOP judiciary comittee have been all male for 200 years.

Hillary reminded me that my governor-to-be, Stacey Abrams, has authored romance novels. I'd forgotten, so just went and ordered one.
