This latest N.Y. Times bombshell which alleges that Rod Rosenstein was mulling over wearing a wire and that he approached John Kelly about invoking the 25th Amendment just does not ring true. This competition to have the latest scoop has lead to cutting some corners and giving Trump fuel for his deep state bullshit. Im going to give the Washington Post a shot. Im disappointed to say the least. It almost has a Judith Miller stink like it was planted by Bannon.

(3,344 posts)The WashPo is doing much better than NYT, without too much of the awful NYT nonsense.
Even worse is that the NYT never apologizes. Remember the article near the election about how the FBI saw no link between Russia and Trump? They've never commented on it.

(16,377 posts)I only got the Sunday edition but it was just too much money and I was always mad at them about something. I, too, prefer the WashPo, although I don't subscribe.

I think the Hillary smears were the last straw.

(67,400 posts)In fact the article was based on sources that were not even in the meeting! Seems like a plant from the WH, as Michael Schmidt admits his sources only heard this second or third hand.
The Washington Post's response is based on people who actually were in the meeting and stated Rosenstein was clearly being sarcastic.
I have a subscription to the Washington Post.

(2,187 posts)Fuck'em. Washington Post actually fact checks, or so I hear. The Times pisses me off in that they're perfect stooges for Spanky in running this fake-story. It was one of his camp that started it! Now they think they're in a good position to fire Rosenstein- and that thought makes me livid!!!

(10,565 posts)This kind of weak journalism only gives Trump a flimsy excuse to fire Rosenstein and shut down Mueller. My money will be better sent going to Beto, Bredesen and those who have volunteered to be on the front line

(2,895 posts)Campaign!"... while also claiming "FBI Sees No Clear Link to Russia!"... etc.)... not to mention Whitewater, anything by Maureen Dowd and too many other columnists, Judith Miller (ad nauseam)... I won't pay for it. I know there are some excellent NYT reporters and columnists, but too many editorial decisions suck in ways that have heavily contributed to developments that have severely damaged our country.

Trump calls them fake news, so it would be strange if all of a sudden he trusted them.

Should the NYT have hidden a story that they obviously believe to be true because it doesnt conform to a liberal viewpoint, like the NationL Enquirer?
As a rabid supporter of the free press, I couldnt disagree more with the OP.

(24,761 posts)And I let them know why--because of the propagandistic hit pieces masquerading as news, namely, the article suggesting that Rod Rosenstein was considering invoking the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office.
That hit piece smacks of a Trump-style conspiracy theory, i.e., elaborate lie. I will not pay to read such bullshit!
