The WH never lies...cough cough. The defense department says Rosenstein was summened to the WH, and Rosenstein said they will have to fire him, he won't resign.

And they do this while tRump is in NY at the UN.

He could be asked to resign, refuse and then go back to work as Dep AG without being fired.

When I heard this morning about Axios, I thought that the NYT leak must have been a set up from the WH to give Trump cover for pressuring Rosenstein to resign, or firing him.

I am thinking that the leaks are coming with the specific purpose to set up the "fake news" and continue to try to discredit them for jumping on stories. They are in a fairly difficult situation given that they need access to be able to report, but often are getting people only if they promise anonymity, which gets called into question if you are reporting information that later turns out to be inaccurate.
