Judge Kavan-R...

As a country and in our media we have always avoided referring to a judge's political leanings and affiliations in an effort to maintain a veneer of impartiality in their rulings. Perhaps it is time to change that.

Thing is, the very idea of a "liberal judge" is a bit of an oxymoron. Judges tend to conservatism, because their judgements are supposed to be based on precedent, and what we think of as "fair" for them includes a serious disinclination to changing prior rulings and going against historical case law. That's why it has always been slow to make significant changes. The unwillingness to change used to be a bedrock conservative value.

Now, after years upon years of decrying "activist Liberal judges" the RW political machine is carrying out the final stages in their campaign to stack the courts, at all levels, with activist "Conservative" judges whose intent and goal is to change jurisprudence and legislation back to what it was 50 or even 100 years ago.

So, maybe I'll start referring to our current candidate as "Judge Kavan-R" or maybe Judge Kavanaugh (R)-Trump or some such.

I'm open to suggestions.
