(65,010 posts)You already have your answer. He's referring to red state dems but he hasn't a clue as to what he's really talking about.
He's a partisan hack.

(56,828 posts)of a press conference that if the allegations had NOT come out, the red state Democrats would have all voted for Kavanaugh. I think Napolitano is just parroting Trump.

(65,010 posts)Kidding. But, if PINO said it, it's far more likely to be untrue.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)if Trump says something, it's 99 44/100% likely to be untrue.

It was always 99.9% or better!
Now, we're getting into PINO territory!

(10,053 posts)While I don't think any of our Democrats will vote to confirm K, the repugs are trying to sway them. According to CNN "In a new six-figure ad campaign, Demand Justice -- a Democratic group aiming to sink Brett Kavanaugh's nomination -- will hit three red-state Democrats with ads urging them to vote against Kavanaugh because Republican pundits and television personalities have raised questions about his credentials and ties to the President's message. The ads, which will target Sen. Joe Donnelly in Indiana, Sen. Heidi Heitkamp in North Dakota and Sen. Joe Manchin in West Virginia, will begin airing on Thursday."

(11,631 posts)I would think the only other possibilities would be Manchin, Heitkamp, and Donnelly, although I haven't heard any definitive statement from Tester, Jones, or Nelson.

(5,557 posts)Heitkamp is my biggest concern, she is trailing in the polls in a Trumpist state.
Manchin and Jones are lesser concerns as they don't have near the immediate pressure, but might also be sensitive to the pressure of their Trumpist states.

(58,785 posts)It's not so much that they need to be convinced as they need to be EMPOWERED. They need public support to say no.
And, remember, this seat is almost certain to be filled the Heritage Society's list of ultraconservative jurists, Kavanaugh or another.
If we lose 1, or 5, senate seats to seat one of the others instead, we've probably probably lost all chance with it of gaining a majority in the senate. And with that, the Republicans will continue their bloodless putsch by stuffing our courts with ultraconservatives who'll rewrite our laws to replace our government of the people with an authoritarian government on the people.
