Dr. Ford said something that hasn't been picked up on.

Mitchell was asking her if she had been at other parties where Brett Kavanaugh was present. Dr. Ford said yes. Mitchell asked if there was any other incident of sexual assault involving her and Kavanaugh.

Dr. Ford wasn't sure what Mitchell was asking and needed clarification if Mitchell meant sexual assault involving Dr. Ford and Brett Kanavaugh.

Mitchell said "you and Brett Kavanaugh."

Dr. Ford said that there was only this time.

Then Dr. Ford said "If you want me to tell you what went on at these parties I will be happy to tell you."

And she did want to continue though the clock was running out. The question was then "Any sexual incidents between you and Kavanaugh?" The answer was no. But the question still is hanging out there unanswered. Did she see Kavanaugh acting inappropriately toward any other other girls?

I don't know if Mitchell was trying to point out that Ford did not go out of her way to avoid Kavanaugh after the incident, but that is how I took it.

So as I have mentioned before, I was molested by one of our parish priests. Did I try to avoid him? Hell yes. Could I avoid him? No way. The only thing I could do is to make sure I was never alone in any way when he was around.

I personally thought this line of questioning (if that was where she was going) was despicable. Maybe I am too sensitive.

4. I heard it that way, too. Ford was focused on another aspect of the question

it seemed, so the subtext of Mitchell's question was left hanging out there. Ford's answer didn't really take into account what Mitchell was getting at -- you heard it right. .

I was sexually assaulted by my first cousin when I was 12 . We lived in the same small (45,000) town. Could I really avoid him? I couldn't even avoid being alone with him.

What he did was to catch me doing something that would get me
in trouble (tape recorded me saying bad words) and then saying he would tell if I didn't let him. If I tried not to be alone with him he would tell. I told him to take a hike when I was 14 and he played the tape... but the tape was old and they couldn't understand it. That was the end but it took 2 years for me to get up the nerve to say go ahead and play the tape.

I didn't tell anyone till I told my mom when I was 30 or so. She said "ya'll were just kids"

8. Ford never socialized with him again after incident, but knew him well from 5 previous parties

Ford said he did not behave inappropriately to her at previous (at least 5 parties), so Mitchell reached a dead end in that line of fruitless questioning as Ford clearly knew him from multiple gatherings and even said a mutual friend at the party had originally introduced them at the country club many weeks earlier. Ford had no inkling before the incident that he was someone to avoid but after the assault she never went to any more parties where he or Mark Judge were in attendance and never spoke to Kavanaugh again.

5. I was very disappointed that answer didn't carry over to a full segment

Dr. Ford could have described Kavanuagh's behavior at the other parties, even if it didn't involve any sexual assault.

That could have been immensely valuable in depicting Kavanuaugh's character and what he was like at the time, especially while drunk.

Ford's answer did help somewhat since she didn't come across as claiming Kavanaugh assaulted her multiple times. But I was very frustrated they forced the answer into the final seconds. Ford's lawyer understood that it was better suited to a full segment. I wish Dr. Ford had caught his hint and waited.

Mitchell didn't want to have her say what happened at these parties out of fear more would be exposed they wanted hidden.

Leave off the line of questioning, particularly when the witness says she'd be happy to recount what went on during those other occasions they saw each other.

ask for clarification of what she was really asking. Only then did Mitchell clarify.

That was truly strange.
