(34,136 posts)When I called yesterday his Tallahassee office person told me that Sen. Nelson had not released a public statement about how he was going to vote. My response was that Kavanaugh is not qualified to be a judge much less on the Supreme Court.
Now to make another call to Rubio's office...
ETA: Rubio's Tallahassee office is not answering the phone and his voice mailbox is full. His DC office number is busy. I wonder if he will pay any attention to the calls that do get through?

(6,007 posts)He is one of my senators. I tried to call his office this AM but the box was full. I did email and also emailed Rubio. I was also able to leave an audio message.
On both of them I mentioned that message I saw that the Bar Association has called on the Senate to slow down and wait until the FBI investigates those 3 allegations.
Man, do I fee good about Sen. Nelson.

(131 posts)has Flaked.
Collins indicated yesterday that Flake Collins and Murkowski will vote in unison, along with Joe Manchin.
So... that's the ball game.
Begin impeachment in January.
I hate that this has to be my first post to DU. Don't think of me a concern troll... just a shitty day to join.

(1,058 posts)it's the Senate that you run into trouble, it takes 67 votes to convict and remove and that just ain't going to happen.
Welcome to DU.

(4,341 posts)Why would a Democrat vote "yes" on Kavanaugh? The announcement of such vote, unless it serves some purpose is mute, I could be wrong, there may be a message Nelson is sending someone out there, but in my view, this Kavanaugh mad man should never be confirmed, he showed yesterday that he is another Sean Hannity, but with a law degree.
Republicans senators have shown they are trash, the display they showed yesterday can only come from non-principled people whose understanding of patriotism has been confused with the concept of treason. It is amazing what is happening in this country, and I fear that even people like Flake who understand very well that trump is unfit for office, someone who has given great speeches against the man-child, is only going to do what he always does, throw his principles and beliefs in the toilet and vote yes to confirm this mad-man.

(808 posts)Senator Nelson has more courage in his little finger than Rubio could ever hope to have.

(25,857 posts)As should every single Democrat. It's a couple of Republicans who need to vote no that matter.
ANY Democrat who votes to confirm him needs to be primaried in his or her next election and voted out of office.
