and procedures that McConnell was controlling. And a lawsuit would have gone nowhere because under the separation of powers principle the courts don't interfere with legislative branch procedures.

it would have to have been led by Obama. If I didn't get my verb tenses right someone correct me!

1) Obama didn't raise a big stink about it, so Dems followed his lead
2) Most thought Clinton would win and then she would get to appoint a judge instead
3) Garland is a moderate/center-left type, so didn't inspire a lot of passion

while the blame falls on McConnell, Obama was the one that could have pushed the envelope more - withdraw Garland and put up somebody else with a time limit on them (i.e., if the Senate does not schedule hearings & a vote on Goodwin Liu within 60 days, they will be considered to have waived their right to advise & consent)

9. Why did people not support democrats in Congress in 2010 and 2014?

People were making heros of Ed Scultz and Genk as they pilloried democrats and urged people not to vote. Maybe you should start there with your question, or direct the question to the people that wrote in Bernie or voted Jill Stein in November 2016.

and in 2014 we had an incompetent Debbie Wasserman Schultz as DNC Chairperson

In 2010 Democrats sat on their hands and allowed the Republicans to blame the huge deficit brought about because of Obama's Recession recover and bank bailout and of course the great Recession was brought on by Bush but yet Obama and Democrats got blamed for it..
In 2010 Democrats had NO backbone or fight. They rejected Obama's help in the midterms and would not defend the ACA or the stand up to Republicans defending the General Motors stock buy and bailout or loans.
Let them sink Republicans said. Of course that all came from Senators with Foreign auto plants

Our leaders get what WE as voters give them. When some of us vote like idiots or don't vote, they get LESS to work with, or worse, they end up facing a monster with no tools with which to fight it.

10. "Why didn't they file a lawsuit and go as far as the Supreme court?"

Because that suit would have been a loser. Additionally as Ruth Bader Ginsberg pointed out - even if you could
conceive of a suit that succeeded the Republicans in the Senate could just have voted no on the confirmation.

that we have their backs. As Thom Hartmann has said, and I’m paraphrasing, politicians don’t start a parade, but they’ll join a parade that’s in progress and make their way to the front of it.

Keep calling and demonstrating and GOTV.

Why is this so hard to get?

The Michael Moore/Susan Sarandon/Jill Stein crowd are ecstatic and patting themselves on the back for promoting a twisted purity argument that was guaranteed to fail.
