As we saw in the previous chapter, butchering innocent babes (actual infants, not fetuses) is a common and much-encouraged practice in the Holy Bible. God ordered the slaughter of all children and adults among the Midians, Hittites, Canaanites, and numerous other peoples. Psalms 137 addresses the “daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed” with “Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.” So why all the fuss nowadays about doing away with a fertilized ovum?”
