Trump would have no problem with the dirt on Kavanaugh IF it were kept hidden. But once it startes to come out, Trump is going to act like it is and was a total surprise to him and NOW he (Trump) is going to do the right thing and withdraw the nomination of Kavanaugh.

Even though Kavanaugh adopted Trump's bravado, his non-response to questions, etc., Kavanaugh could not control his emotions (rage, near tears) in public.

We know Trump rages - but not in public. I'm sure he would see it as a sign of weakness.

I've never understood why they've dug in so hard over Kavanaugh. I know that time is running out before the midterms, but after yesterday I'm not sure McConnell or Grassley would care about the optics of ramming it through during the lame duck session.

They're all against RvW, or all against restrictions on free trade, but for the most part, they aren't for an imperial presidency. Kavanagh would give Trump and GOP politicians a free pass on Russia money, Conspiracy, Money Laundering, and other outright crimes he may have committed or endorsed.
Those other judges might not.
So that's why they were pushing so hard for Kavanagh. He's a get out of jail free card on the Supreme Court.
