That they exhibit more courage in one day than most of us will in our lifetimes.

What was the outcome?
Great picture.

(29,713 posts)They just took down the cabal with the help of men; but they were the ones with ramrods for spines. Don't diminish; it's not manly.

(23,340 posts)Kavanaugh is still the likely next SC justice. No cabal has been brought down.

(1,997 posts)Clearly the repubs have the majority and all of this maneuvering can be seen as a 'hail Mary' pass...but they can still be pleased at trying to do what is right.

(23,340 posts)... I'm always happy that someone does what they can.
But the celebrations should be for victories. Kavanaugh has not been voted down yet. And if he is voted down, there will be another right-wing judge proposed by the White House.
"Winning" in the Supreme Court context, means a Democratic majority in the Senate in 2019, and a Democratic president in 2021.
Until then, sober focus and determination.
I'm hoping the Supreme Court will sway in a more liberal direction in the next few years.
As for the Detroit Lions getting to a Superbowl, I'm not holding my breath.

(29,713 posts)That is the sound of the bricks falling and the glass cracking. The Patriarch is crumbling.
But back to you--doubling down? no they did a good job? nothing on that front?

(23,340 posts)They scored some points, but Kavanaugh is not stopped. Even if he is, Trump is not stopped from naming someone even worse (assuming there is someone worse).
I feel like we've been given a week's reprieve from the inevitable. Is that a victory worthy of celebration? I certainly hope Kavanaugh is eventually stopped, and that the Senate is run by Democrats before the next nomination comes up for a vote.

(29,713 posts)and there won't be the time to go through the process again the election. Glad you admitted they did pretty good for girls.

(23,340 posts)Grassley and McConnell have a week to "lean on" any wavering Republican senators, and also pressure Democratic senators in weak seats. Ethics and other qualifications will have nothing to do with their arguments. They want to win, even if the country is harmed.
And, yes, those girls did themselves proud.

(46,045 posts)Are they going to make a decision in Gamble for sure this Tuesday? If so, and it's a 4-4 tie, do you know what the lower court ruling was?
(Sorry, I should be up on these things better.)

(31,261 posts)I guess that helps the "democrats are weak" argument somehow.

(46,045 posts)And I'm sick to death of hearing DiFi is too old and should step aside.
I would hope after this week we'd hear an end to the "spineless Dems" moaning, but I'm sure that's too much to ask.

(31,261 posts)Their purity won't allow them to give democrats any credit. The faces of those two Senators? The faces of warriors.
