President Trump said on Saturday that the F.B.I. will have “free rein” to investigate allegations of sexual misconduct against Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, but the emerging contours of the inquiry showed its limited scope.

Four witnesses will be questioned in coming days about aspects of the assault accusations against Judge Kavanaugh, according to two people familiar with the matter. The FBI investigation could still be rigged. They may still end up only interviewing from the approved list. But they will just say that it was due to FBI's independent discretion and won't acknowledge they are still following the earlier order secretly.

And will , but got caught trying to do it this way. He's so corrupt he'll do anything to stop it , or dispute it, or halt it altogether with more make believe excuses and reasons like he's done many times before. Is he trying to do it with Rod Rosenstein now? Trying to intimidate him, force him with threats to do as he demands or else, probably.
