The FBI report, btw, is submitted to Trump. No need to worry that they don't know all that could mean and aren't already planning for each contingency, though.

I am NOT one of those Dems. Too many repeats...no more "we take the high road, turn the other cheek, reach across the isle" nonsense. Where does that get US? Right where we are...in living Hell! I am one who is sick and tired of GOP shit for the majority of my life...since 1980 and my first chance to vote. I have voted straight Dem in every single election from local to Fed. as long as our candidates continue to be go-along-to-get-alongs, they tend to care more about their own reelections and the money needed than they do about things that actually help people..

Dems tend to bring feather dusters to a gunfight and then threaten lawsuits when we lose.. I have been watching this melodrama for decades and I hope before I die, something good will happen..

....your "last effective President" had this Congressional makeup:

Senate - 68 Democrats/32 republicans, House 295 Democrats/145 republicans.

I agree that Johnson was one of the greatest Presidents of my lifetime, but he enjoyed the benefit of some of the biggest majorities in BOTH houses of Congress.

On the other hand, with respect to those other three:

Jimmy Carter, although there were Democratic majorities in both houses, took over after about four years of either an absentee President or a totally unprepared, inept President, and inherited a recession and huge inflation (remember Gerald Ford's "Whip Inflation Now" program?)

Bill Clinton only had Democratic majorities in the House and Senate in the first two of his eight years.

Barack Obama had a Democratic majority in the Senate in the first six of his eight years, but a Democratic majority in only the first two of his eight years.

Presidents don't operate in a vacuum - they need to work with the House and the Senate, and without majorities in those houses it's an uphill battle.

Considering the Congresses that Carter, Clinton, and Obama had to work with, all three were highly effective.
