Help me out here: Who lies about high school and college drinking?

I have never been much of a drinker so I don't understand what it is like to be an alcoholic or a recovering alcoholic, but I have known people who were certainly alcoholics and people who are recovering alcoholics. And one thing I get from them is that when someone is still drinking they lie about it. They lie about past drinking and they lie about current drinking.

I think for reasons beyond comprehension there is a cover up going on of a serious current drinking problem.

his past drinking.

That clear perjury should disqualify him but you know...repugs, white male privilege, the usual dynamic with these cheaters.

If he started his drinking career at seventeen with beer, and still enjoys drinking... He's not drinking just beer.

He sounds like every active alcoholic in denial that I've ever known.

His behavior during his questioning by Senator Klobuchar reminded me of a time that I confronted my father about drinking... His only retort was "Well, I think you're addicted to Snickers bars. Are you going to stop eating Snickers bars?!?" I was a freshman in high school.

but I smoked pot, often, and never lied about it. Every interview I have I always say yes to pot and when they say how many times I say, " 1-2 million?"

It was the 70s....................and beyond.

but as I got older why lie about some dumb things you did unless they were so bad you won't admit it.

… in high school years... but I made up for it in college! I used to go out after college and drink alcohol (beer), too, but just grew out of it... you move on and it just doesn't fit in anywhere, anymore. It was fun in college, though... and we never attacked anyone.

Some of my best stories from high school and college start with "I hadn't eaten all day and started doing shots..."

Or keg stands.
Or chugging bathtub punch.

You get the picture. Without old drinking stories I have a boring life.

...moderate use usually because it's an issue for someone else in their life, or some group of someone-elses, such as an employer or social group. But if those people are bothered about it, they already know the person in question drinks. And if it's a current and serious matter, 20+ year old drinking habits in college etc are the least of the problem.

Given that excessive drinking has been mentioned in connection with the accusations against him (of which there are undoubtedly more), he might have decided that denying the former helps refute the latter. It's also possible that he viewed it as a preemptive strike if he's concerned that reports of even worse actions linked to drinking are lurking. I might have asked him if he ever had any contact at any time with law enforcement because of alcohol or other substance use.

every part of it that he can. Since Dr. Ford said he and Judge were drunk, he won't admit to ever being drunk.

Never thought about lying about it.

In fact, in the last security clearance review, they actually did ask about my drinking (a lot when I was young, not a lot now) and drug usage (none. Not even a joint, ever).

perhaps he sold his daughter on how mom and dad were virgins on the wedding night

perhaps his standing in his church is build on a testimony that is a fraud and bullshit

perhaps the pandora's box he opened at work is smaller than the one he opened at home
